About Our School

The Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston founded St. Paul School in 1952. When this Religious Community could no longer staff our school, the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur provided a principal from 1974– 2001. St. Paul School continues in the wonderful tradition established by the nuns, brothers and priests who have built the unique Catholic School System that has educated generations of young children in this country. St. Paul School is a vital part of ministry of St. Paul Parish in Hingham, and follows the policies established by the Office of Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Boston. Our "Mission Statement" notes that we provide a "challenging curriculum infused with Gospal values." Our school serves families from Hingham, Cohasset, Scituate, Hull, Hanover, Marshfield, and Weymouth. St. Paul School has one class of each grade, Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8 with approximately 26 students in each class. We accept fewer students for the Pre-Kindergarten class, which meets every morning and the Kindergarten Class, which has a full day of school. The school day begins at 8:20 a.m. and ends at 2:45 p.m. A yearly calendar is provided for every family so parents can plan family vacations that do not conflict with the developmental nature of the learning process. Our faculty members are certified by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and by the Archdiocese of Boston. Their dedication and commitment to quality Catholic education is clearly observed in the wonderful work they do each day. Their professional development is enriched by continually updating their knowledge of theology and attending workshops provided by the Archdiocese. Due to the outstanding work of our faculty, St. Paul School is the only elementary school in Hingham that is accredited by The New England Association of Schools and Colleges. Our parents are a vital part of the School Family. Our teachers and parents ensure an excellent learning experience for the students in a truly Catholic atmosphere. In addition to the exceptional fundraising work of the PTO, parents are actively involved in the school as volunteers, field trip chaperones, library helpers, lunch proctors, and classroom aids. Parents are invited to serve on our School Board because of the professional advice they can provide in the areas of finance, education, plant and facilities, development, marketing, and public relations. The Catholic Schools of the Archdiocese of Boston admit students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the schools. They do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin, in administration of education policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs, and in the hiring of school personnel. |
